The Femoral Nail is a versatile device designed for both right and left femur stabilization. It comes in a range of commonly used sizes, from 9 mm to 14 mm in diameter and 300 mm to 440 mm in length. Closed intramedullary nailing, a traditional method for treating non-fragmented femur fractures, has been expanded by the Femoral Nail to include more complex cases such as comminuted fractures, fractures with bone loss, and proximal and distal femur fractures.
The Femoral Nail’s cross-sectional design provides multi-point fixation, making it suitable for both unlocked and locked applications, either in dynamic or static mode. It is also compatible with reamed or unreamed procedures. However, using the Femoral Nail effectively requires meticulous attention to positioning, reduction, rod insertion, and proximal and distal locking screw placement.
